The 2019 Cadillac CT6 is a full-size luxury sedan that has aggressive styling and a refreshing implementation that’s a departure from the same-is-lame sedans from Asian and European luxury car manufacturers.
For 2019, the CT6 receives upgrades that solve a few of the problems I always thought hurt its chances in contrast to its rivals. A new base engine and transmission combo come standard, while things that were previously options are added to the standard features list. From a usability standpoint, knob-based controls to the infotainment system replace the clunky touchpad Cadillac formerly used.
The 2019 Cadillac CT6 includes a few features that set it apart from the competition, like sporty suspension calibration, a digital instrument panel, a rearview mirror, and, obviously, a roomy interior.
Apart from high feature content, the CT6 is priced competitively to established large luxury sedans. And it’s usually easier to search due to its uncomplicated trimming and options structure. Regrettably, that simplicity also means that you don’t get the customizability or genuinely exclusive choices the high-end luxury sedan segment is all about.
Competitors, like the Audi A8 and the BMW 7 Series, provide that customizability, in addition to plusher ride qualities. And you can not discount the effect of their badges. Meanwhile, the Genesis G90 and the Lexus LS 500 have softer rides.
In the end, if style, technology, and value are your priorities, the 2019 Cadillac CT6 should be a prime consideration.

2019 Cadillac CT6 Configurations
The 2019 Cadillac CT6 is a big luxury sedan available in four primary trim levels. The CT6 Luxury is well-optioned, while the Premium Luxury configuration adds high-end safety and convenience features. The Sport trim level includes a 400HP V6 engine and sporty bodywork. Lastly, the Platinum makes all choices standard and includes the same twin-turbo V6 that’s in the Sport. A high-performance CT6-V model with a V8 engine will be available later in 2019.

Luxury
The CT6 Luxury configuration comes standard with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine (237 horsepower, 258 pound-feet) and also a 10-speed automatic transmission that drives the rear wheels. Eighteen-inch wheels are standard, as are LED headlights, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, driver-seat memory configurations, and dual-zone automated climate control.
As far as technology is concerned, the CT6 Luxury has GM’s OnStar system (using 4G LTE connectivity along with a hotspot capacity ), a 10.2-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto smartphone integration, USB interfaces, satellite radio, a wireless charging pad, along with an eight-speaker Bose audio system.

Premium Luxury
The Premium Luxury configuration has everything the Luxury has and adds to that a parking system, a hands-free trunk, better front seats, a 360-degree parking camera system, rear window blinds, upgraded interior lighting, plus a 10-speaker Bose surround-sound audio system. A Surround Vision Recorder is also standard with this trim, allowing drivers to record audio from the CT6’s front and back cameras on an SD card.

Sport
The Sport trim level, which is my favorite, is based on the Premium Luxury configuration mentioned above. The Sport includes a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that makes 404 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, and all-wheel drive is standard. Otherwise, upgrades are decorative and include a different grille, 19-inch wheels, a very nice lower body kit, a sweet-ass rear spoiler, darkened window surrounds, and carbon-pattern interior trim.
Optional on the Sport and the Premium Luxury models equipped with all-wheel drive, the Super Cruise package installs Cadillac’s advanced driver assist system which permits hands-free driving on certain highways. The bundle also includes adaptive cruise control, night-vision, rear-wheel steering, a magnetic ride control adaptive damping suspension, and 20-inch wheels.
if you’re only interested in the performance parts upgrades, the Active Chassis package equips the car with magnetic ride control, rear-wheel steering, and 20-inch wheels. The Comfort and Technology bundle and the Rear Seat package will also be available for the CT6 Sport.
Platinum
At the top is the Platinum, which carries a Premium Luxury version and includes the Super Cruise, Comfort and Technology, and Rear Seat options all as standard equipment. It then adds the Sport’s turbocharged V6 engine, all-wheel drive, 19-inch wheels, front seats with additional adjustments and massage functions, premium leather upholstery, power-adjustable outboard rear seats (with heating, ventilation, and massage functions), and a 34-speaker Bose Panaray sound system.

More about the 2019 Cadillac CT6
The 2019 Cadillac CT6 is constructed to be a significant leap forward for GM’s most prestigious product. It is a bold statement that announces to the world that Cadillac is one of the world’s heavy hitters in the luxury game and that it plays on the same plateau as Audi, BMW, and Mercedes.
However, theย 2019 Cadillac CT6 is also a value proposition. It is priced closer to smaller, midsize luxury cars, but it has got all of the gear and poise of a true flagship — without compromising driving dynamics or efficacy.
Constructed around a stretched and augmented version of the smaller CTS chassis, the engine inside the CT6 is mounted longitudinally in front delivering power to the back wheels. Yes, all-wheel drive is an option. But you will not be stuck with front-wheel drive should you decide you just require two driven wheels.
