Unique driving characteristics, the most ferocious AMG V8 ever built, the most complex aerodynamics, the most clever material mix: The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series has raised the bar in automotive design. This new powerful sports car fully embodies the brand’s long motorsport pedigree and ability in creating complete vehicles that impress. In the end, an AMG V8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft, active aerodynamics, and a design inspired by the present AMG GT3 racing car resulted in an incredible vehicle with 720 hp.

Mercedes SL 63 AMG: Features, Performance, and Legacy

2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Coupe Review

In this review, I cover standard features, MSRP, specs, engine, Nurburgring lap time, aerodynamics, and suspension.

2020 BMW M8 Coupe Review

The all-new 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is powered by a new hand-made AMG V8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft that produces 720 horsepower at 6,700-6,900 rpm and 590 lb-ft of peak torque at 2,000-6,000 rpm. The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Coupe gains a whole new personality thanks to its new engine, which also provides outstanding driving performance. The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Coupe speeds from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and blasts 124 mph in less than nine seconds. The maximum speed is 202 miles per hour.

Nurburgring Lap Records

The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Coupe has shattered the Nurburgring Nordschleife’s official lap record. The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Coupe places in the top group of the street-legal “sports cars” category and is now number one among fully standard, unmodified models with an officially measured, notarized, and certified time of 6:43.616 for the 12.8 mile-long track and 6:48.047 for the 12.944 mile-long total track.

The aesthetic and technological affinity between the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Coupe and the AMG GT3 and AMG GT4 race cars is stronger than ever. The new carbon-fiber hood, with two massive exhaust air outlets in black-finished carbon, is a direct development from motorsport, in addition to the bigger cooling air intake upfront from the AMG GT race car. Warm air is pushed out of the engine compartment through these enormous ports, which are fed by a diagonally positioned cooling pack. The car’s overall downforce is improved with this technology. Simultaneously, air resistance is minimized and airflow for cooling the motor is maximized.

Mercedes AMG: The Pinnacle of Automotive Excellence

2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Suspension

The bearings for the rear axle’s top and bottom wishbones are derived from motorsport. Their racetrack design eliminates play, ensuring that toe-in and camber remain constant even under severe loads. As a result, the AMG GT Black Series provides precise steering, a crisp steering feel, and excellent cornering performance.
