Which of the 2023 BMW 5 Series trim levels to Buy
Of the 2023 BMW 5 Series trim levels, I suggest going with the somewhat more costly 540i in order to have the improved turbocharged six-cylinder engine. It adds about 100 horsepower while providing nearly the same levels of fuel efficiency as the 530i’s engine. Or, if you’re looking for something more economical, the plug-in hybrid 530e is also more robust than the 530i and starts off at a comparable price. And if you have a few more bucks gnawing at your wallet, grab the M550i since it has many more standard features than the cheaper versions and is virtually as fast as the M5 for a much lower price.

2023 BMW 5 Series Sedan Image Gallery (73 Pictures)
Exterior Features
You will notice when you look at the pictures in the image gallery that the 2023 BMW 5 Series exterior has a smoother surface design. The new BMW Kidney Grille style with reshaped headlights is the most prominent aspect. The redesigned grille is encircled by a single-piece grille element and is larger, broader, and extends deeper into the front bumper cover. More noticeable and extending further into the airflow are the vertical grille slats. There are several pictures in the image gallery showing the grille.
While the majority of the external and internal measurements are the same, the length increases by 1.2 inches to provide a more sweeping look. With the 530i sedan reaching a coefficient drag as low as 0.27, the new 5 Series Sedans’ aerodynamics benefit from the precisely crafted lines.
Headlights
The new standard adaptive LED headlights can be seen in many images in the image gallery to have a thinner profile and two L-shaped daytime driving light components on each side. These components serve as turn signals as well.
Exhaust
In other photos, you can see the new, standard trapezoidal tailpipe finishers that are incorporated into the lower bumper region highlight the 5 Series’ rear. New rear taillights have three-dimensional lenses and black edges.
Bumpers
Redesigned front and rear bumpers, bigger front air intakes with mesh inserts, and a reshaped rear diffuser panel are all features of the M Sport Package. The M Sport Package is installed on the blue 530e in the gallery photos.
M550i
The M550i xDrive Sedan adds a rear trunk lid spoiler and the new aerodynamic package from the M Sport Package for improved performance and aesthetics. The model inscription, BMW Kidney Grille surround, front air intake inlays, and air breathers are all given a Cerium Grey treatment. Black chrome makes up the twin trapezoidal exhaust finishers, while high-gloss black make up the window surrounds.
Interior Features
The standard Live Cockpit Professional with iDrive 7 and its 12.3″ central touchscreen control display stands out in the 2023 BMW 5 Series Sedan. Included are basic navigation, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay compatibility. The center console’s buttons are currently coated in high-gloss black. There are some great close-up photos of the central touchscreen in the image gallery.
Premium Perforated SensaTec leatherette with contrast stitching is included as standard on all four-cylinder and six-cylinder versions, offering the cabin an even more attractive appearance and feel. The M550i xDrive comes standard with Dakota Leather, while the other versions have it as an option. On all versions, Nappa Leather is an optional feature. The M550i xDrive’s standard black SensaTec dashboard with brown stitching is standard on the four- and six-cylinder 5 Series models.
A standard 40:20:40 split folding rear seat and M Multi-contour seats are available on all versions.
