2019 Jeep Wrangler Review: Features and Configurations

The 2019 Jeep Wrangler was recently redesigned in 2018 with more attributes, power, safety features and off-road capacity. Equipped with a choice of two or four doors, the 2019 Wrangler provides the type of off-road adventure no typical SUV can match.

Despite its many developments, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler sticks with conventional front and rear axles and also a selection of 4-wheel-drive systems. But, unlike previous Wranglers, this one really delivers a pretty civilized ride on paved streets, with an interior space that’s downright plush on several trims. Since the Ford Bronco isn’t due out until 202, the Wrangler has no actual rivalry outside some off-road-ready pickups, and that is how Jeep enjoys it, surely.

Though Jeep has enhanced the Wrangler’s on-road performance for 2019, the Jeep Wrangler remains decidedly old-school in the handling department. The axles stay solid for greater off-road operation, and also the entry-level model Sport model does not offer you newfangled fripperies like air conditioning, alloy wheels, or power outlets. Every 2019 Jeep Wrangler also comes with a fold-down windshield, removable doors and a soft top for a really rugged look. There is also the Rubicon using its large knobby tires and technical traction-enhancing hardware.

Which 2019 Jeep Wrangler to Buy?

The entry-level model Sport presents good value for the price, but it has missing features you may expect from an automobile manufactured in 2019. The Sport S is your sweet spot; it is not much more costly and provides much-needed items like a locking/unlocking keyfob, ac, and power windows and mirrors.

Obviously, the Rubicon is your best bet if you’re thinking about being a regular visitor of off-road paths. In terms of motors, I believe the turbocharged four-cylinder is a much better choice than the V6. It is a bit more costly than the V6, but it’s better fuel economy and also does not have the same power loss at high altitudes.

If you would rather a Wrangler that is not a stripped-down truck or even an extreme rock-crawler, the center trims offer you a bit more polish. Leather upholstery, a huge touchscreen, navigation along with the upgraded audio system are on the features list. You may even define innovative protection features, such as blind-spot tracking, forward collision warning, and rear parking sensors.

2019 Jeep Wrangler Configurations

The 2019 Jeep Wrangler is a truck-based midsize SUV offered at a set of body designs: the two-door and four-door Unlimited. The two-door can be obtained in Sport, Sport S and Rubicon configurations, although the four-door can be obtained in Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Moab, and Rubicon trim.

Both body styles are available with a soft-top convertible or a hardtop. The Sport includes a simple set of attributes, while the midlevel Sport S and Sahara include a few modern convenience features.

The Moab merges added luxury features and some of the Sahara’s off-road-friendly features, together with special badging and styling components. The Rubicon is the most competent off-road as a result of its special attributes, such as shorter axle gearing and an electronically disconnecting rollbar.

Sport

The Sport spec level, although somewhat fundamental, has more gear than preceding Wranglers. Standard gear consists of 17-inch steel wheels and tires, a full-size spare tire, skid plates, and tow hooks. Additionally, it has foglights, removable full metal doors with crank windows, a fold-down windshield, manual mirrors and locks, cruise control, air conditioning (optional on the two-door Sport), a height-adjustable driver’s seat with two-way lumbar adjustment, a driver information display, fabric upholstery, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, plus a two-wheeled fold rear seat.

Also contained on the Sport is a 5-inch Uconnect touchscreen display, Bluetooth, a rearview camera, an eight-speaker audio system using a USB port and an auxiliary audio jack. Apart from its two additional doors, the Unlimited version also offers a larger gas tank, ac, and a 60/40-split folding rear seat.

Sport S

In addition to the base model Sport configuration, the Sport S adds alloy wheels and tires, ac, automatic headlights, remote locking and unlocking, heated power mirrors, power windows and locks, vehicle alarm, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, along with sun visors with vanity mirrors.

Sahara

The midlevel Sahara only comes in the four-door configuration and includes everything the Sport S plus 18-inch wheels and tires, upgraded brakes, painted outside body panels and trim pieces, automatic headlights, automatic climate control, plus a 115-volt socket.

Additionally, you can get the Sahara with a larger driver information display, yet another USB interface, and an updated version of Uconnect using a 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, along with XM satellite. Also available is a full-time four-wheel-drive using a lockable center differential.

Moab

The Moab adds to the top of the Sahara, including unique black wheels and tires, mud-terrain tires, LED outdoor lighting (headlights, foglights, and taillights), stone railings, a steel front end, black-painted exterior bits, the full-time four-wheel-drive system plus a limited-slip differential plus a body-colored hardtop, keyless entry, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, premium leather upholstery, and blind-spot tracking, rear parking sensors, an 8.4-inch Uconnect system using navigation plus a nine-speaker Alpine sound system, and unique Jeep Moab badging.

Rubicon

The most off-road effective of all 2019 Jeep Wranglers is that of the Rubicon. It receives the basic Sport gear plus 17-inch metal wheels and tires, particular off-road wheels, a steel front bumper, a heavy-duty Dana M210 front axle and a M220 rear axle, briefer 4.10 axle gearing (other trims include a 3.45 ratio), 4.0-to-1 low-range gearing (other trims include a 2.72 ratio), digital front and rear lockable differentials, a disconnecting front rollbar, stone railings, upgraded cloth upholstery, along with another USB port.

2019 Jeep Wrangler Options

A lot of the upper-level equipment is offered in classes or as standalone features for reduced spec levels. Other features include remote start, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, plus a nine-speaker Alpine audio system. All trims are also able to option a higher-quality soft top which can be had in black or even a body-colored hardtop. If you’re searching for extra security features, the newest Advanced Safety Group package can be found on all but the Sport version. It provides adaptive cruise control and a forward collision warning system.

2019 Jeep Wrangler Engine Options

A 3.6-liter V6 (285 horsepower, 260 pound-feet of torque) is standard across the board. By default, it is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, although an eight-speed automatic is optional. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder (270 hp, 295 lb-ft) using the gentle hybrid eTorque process can be found on any model, and it is mated exclusively to an eight-speed automatic.

Final Thoughts

Just as the 2019 Jeep Wrangler has appealed to drivers who like to drift off the beaten path — or to people who wish to look the part — it has been just as unappealing to drivers needing refinement and a smooth and quiet ride. But that juxtaposition has shrunk together with all the newest-generation Wrangler (the JL) that surfaced last year. The redesigned version boasts enhanced cabin materials, contemporary technology attributes, and a (comparatively) more comfy ride. Recently available innovative protection features place the bar even higher for your 2019 Jeep Wrangler.

Provided that you do not prioritize a quiet interior or cushy ride, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler provides something for everybody. The Wrangler warrants a place on your car shopping list if you desire a supremely capable off-road bruiser or a rugged-looking boulevard cruiser.
