2022 Jeep Compass Trim Levels and Standard Features Explained: Sport, Latitude, Latitude Lux, Limited, Trailhawk, Red, and High Altitude are the seven trim levels offered for the 2022 Jeep Compass.
A 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine powers all of them (177 horsepower, 172 lb-ft of torque). Front-wheel drive is included on Sport and Latitude models, with all-wheel drive available as an option. The Latitude Lux, Limited, Trailhawk, Red, and High Altitude all come standard with all-wheel drive. A six-speed automatic gearbox is standard on front-drive models, while a nine-speed automatic is standard on AWD variants.
The Compass is a mid-size SUV that slots in between the Cherokee and the Renegade in the Jeep lineup for 2022. It faces competition from the Chevrolet Trailblazer and Hyundai Tucson, and it is distinguished by its greater off-road ability.
The most recent Compass generation was released in 2017, although this year’s version has a slew of improvements. The first is a new exterior appearance and a more sophisticated interior, both of which are suggestive of the bigger Grand Cherokee. New digital features include a redesigned touchscreen infotainment, a bigger touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto compatibility, and more standard advanced driver aids that should help this small Jeep stand out even more.

There are five available packages for the off-road-oriented Trailhawk. The Sun and Sound package and driver-assist group I and Trailhawk Convenience Group we know. The Trailhawk Convenience Group is similar to other Convenience Groups packages we’ve covered.
There’s a Trailer-Tow Group that gets you a 4-pin wiring harness and a class 3 receiver hitch.

The Stellantis Red Edition is one of the numerous Stellantis items that are part of a collaboration with (RED), a non-profit that generates donations to combat global health crises. - Neutral Gray Grille Rings, Roof Rails, and Body Glass Trim

There’s just one available package for the Red and it’s called the Red Package. It’s really the Elite Group called something else, but they do swap out a few features. The Red package also drops the gloss black exterior bits and gives you instead a:

- Reversible Carpet / Vinyl Cargo-Mat
- Second Row Charge-Only USB Type-A and C Ports
Which 2022 Jeep Compass Trim Level to Buy
When it comes to deciding which 2022 Jeep Compass trim level to buy, the Sport appears to be adequately equipped, but I’d recommend skipping it in favor of the Latitude, even if your budget is limited. It’s not much more expensive and provides several useful quality-of-life enhancements. However, if you’re considering adding 4X4 anyhow, the Latitude Lux is only slightly more expensive than the Latitude with 4X4 and includes a slew of useful amenities.
Paint Colors
Lastly, let’s go over the available paint colors for the 2022 Jeep Compass trim levels. There are only 7 colors.
- Diamond Black
- Granite Crystal
- Billet Silver
- Laser Blue
- Velvet Red
- Bright White
- Sting-Gray (Trailhawk only)
